The Transition

Moving across the country or simply moving across town can be a challenging and rewarding experience. The FIDM Housing Office is committed to making your housing transition an easy one by assisting you with finding the plan that best suits your needs.

1) Student Housing

"Student Housing" consists of privately owned and operated apartment complexes with locations in Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego. Numerous units in these apartment buildings have been reserved for FIDM Students only. This popular option creates an exciting community of FIDM Students in each location.

• Rent includes furniture, utilities, basic cable, and internet access.
• Amenities vary from pools, spas, saunas, and gyms to jogging paths and basketball, volleyball and tennis courts. Floor plans and amenities will vary depending on the building.
• Early reservations are recommended. Space is not reserved until all application forms and total fees are received and confirmed by the Student Housing Office.
• Resident Advisors live on FIDM Student Housing properties. Advisors are there to help students with emergencies and concerns and to assist in making the FIDM experience enjoyable and successful.
• Roommates are pre-assigned through the Student Housing Office.
• Signed Housing Contracts with FIDM are required from students In order to ensure the comfort and security of living in a community situation. Adherence to all contracts and housing deadlines are strictly enforced.
• Activities are planned by the Resident Advisors for those residing in FIDM Student Housing.
• Parking expenses are not included in Housing Fees.

Student Housing Rates:

Please Note: There is a one-time $300 Housing Placement Fee.
All apartments are 2 BR/2 BA units.  The same rates apply to all properties.  Rates are subject to change in January of each year. Rates below are effective as of January 2008.

Shared bedroom / shared bath	$2850 per student / per quarter
Private bedroom / private bath	$5700 per student / per quarter

Student Housing Application Deadline Dates

Space is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis:

Fall 08	8/15/08 (Limited space still available)
Winter 09	11/15/08
Spring 09	2/15/09
Summer 09	5/15/09

2) Independent Housing

A second housing option is Independent Housing – meaning that students will locate and make the arrangements for their own housing. The FIDM Housing Office is happy to assist students with apartment and roommate referrals. Students will then contact the different apartment complexes and potential roommates directly.

The properties that are used by FIDM Student Housing are also available to students independently – however, the rates will not be the same as those offered by Student Housing.
